Since Aretha Franklin Has Hers…

May I make another recommendation for a Resident Artist program?

Underworld Productions Opera

I was a Resident Artist this past fall, and enjoyed my experience immensely. Here are some details about the Spring 2012 Resident Artist program (they especially would like to hear mezzos, tenors, and baritones):

Underworld Productions Opera, an award-winning and New York Times-praised company, announces auditions for the Spring 2012 Resident Artist (RA) program.

Lead roles in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale (Norina, Ernesto, Malatesta, and Pasquale) for four staged parks performances will be cast from Spring 2012 Resident Artists.

Spring 2012 semester offers:

▪ Workshops with guest coaches such as Cori Ellison, long-time NYCO dramaturg; Justine Chen, VOX-produced composer; Elena Araoz, NYCO stage director; and Peter Castaldi, Mannes Opera coach.

▪ Cover and comprimario roles and ensemble for mainstage performances May 14–25. ▪ Solo opportunities in parks concert with instruments June 18. ▪ Lead roles in 4 outdoor performances of Don Pasquale, June 25-30. Fee charged: $950.

Some scholarships are available.
